Match Formats

Preliminary stages - Will be played online in an all play all scenario, these matches will seed the top 8  teams into the playoff stages. Preliminary stage matches will be played with a BO3 Format.  It is the responsibility of the players to keep up with their team’s standings. Three points will be awarded for a win and zero points for a loss. In the event of ties in point standings, the following sequence will be used to determine who advances to the elimination stage, and who wins his group:

  1. Points earned from matches won.
  2. Result of head to head game.
  3. Total Maps won
  4. Maps difference: Total net score for maps played. Net score = maps gained, less maps gained against.
  5. If two or more teams are still tied, a random king of the hill map (BO5) will be chosen by the admins to determine the winner.

Playoff Stage - It will be a Double Elimination Bracket where the Winner Bracket matches will be played online while the Loser Bracket matches will be played at an offline event in-front of a live audience held during The Malta Robotics Olympiad at MFCC, Malta. Matches will be played with a BO5 Format.

Grand Final - A BO7 match played offline during The Malta Robotics Olympiad at MFCC, Malta. The team coming from the Winner Bracket will start with a 1-0 win. The team reaching 4 wins will be crowned as winner.

Map VETOs

We will be using using OWDraft to determine which map is to be played. 30 minutes before the start of the match and admin will contact the team leaders in order to do the Veto and determine the maps that will be played. It is important that in case the leader cannot make it 30 minutes before he must contact an admin at least 3 hours before the start with a substitute from his team that will take his place and do the Veto.  Should a team fail to be present for the Veto at least 20 minutes before the start the opposing team will have the right to choose the maps that will be played. The team starting to ban first will be chosen randomly by the site.

In a Bo3 teams will then take it in turns to ban maps until the last 3 maps remain. Maps are to be played in the order they were picked.

In a Bo5 teams will then take it in turns to ban maps until the last 5 maps remain. Maps are to be played in the order they were picked.

In a Bo7 teams will then take it in turns to ban maps until the last 6 maps remain. Maps are to be played in the order they were picked.  (Team coming from the winner bracket will have a 1-0 win so 6 maps will be played)

In case of a tied map, an admin will decide which king of the hill map will be played. Should a particular king of the hill be played during that match it won’t be chosen again. Should all king of the hill maps be chosen in that series then it's up to the admin to decide which one will be played again.

Rosters

Minimum & Maximum Players - When registering for a tournament, team captains must select the minimum number of players 6 in this case to compete in the tournament. Team captains can choose any number of players as long as it more than 6 but the same player cannot be registered in an other team competing in the tournament.

Player Eligibility - Only players listed on the Participants page are eligible to play in tournament matches. It is both team's responsibility to verify the eligibility of all players playing in the match prior to starting a match. By allowing the match to start, both teams agree that the players in the lobby are going to play the match and are allowed to participate in the whole match series, even if some of the players in the lobby are not listed on the participant page. If the opposing team has an ineligible player present, you must tell the opposing team to replace that player with an eligible player. An eligible player has a maximum of ten (10) minutes to be changed. If the team does not substitute their ineligible player, do not start the match or allow the match to be started and contact a game admin immediately.

Pickups - Teams are not permitted to use a pickup at any point in a match. A pickup is defined as someone who is not listed on the participant page.

Game IDs - All Game IDs on a team’s roster must be valid. Spelling, spaces and characters must be exact, but do not need to be case sensitive.

Roster Lock - User game ID's are stored when tournament brackets are generated, meaning that any changes made to a user's game ID after a tournament has started will not be reflected for that specific tournament. A team can only amend 1 player at time with a 6 day notice by contacting an admin as long as that player didn’t play or was registered with any specific team for the tournament.

Restrictions

The newest character is not available for two weeks OR until an admin gives the go ahead. This also applies to new maps and won’t count towards the bans each team does. If a team bans the new released map, it won’t count towards one of the bans in that game.

Match Delay

Matches must be played in their entirety unless a game admin tells them otherwise.

Teams must start joining the lobby 15 minutes prior the match time. If a team delays the start for longer than one minute they will forfeit that map.

Teams may not delay the match for more than 5 minutes between each map. If a team delays the start  for longer than 5 minutes with a maximum possible Admin given time of another 5 minutes, they will forfeit that map and if done repeatedly may face disqualification from the tournament.

Before a forfeit is given in all cases an admin must be contacted in order to give the final decision.

Incorrect Match Settings

It is the team’s responsibility to ensure that the match settings are as outlined above. If you notice that the host has the incorrect match settings, please contact the admin of what is wrong, ensuring that the scores, time, incorrect rules and the players in the lobby are clearly visible. Once a match has started it is automatically agreeable that both teams accepted the settings and other issues and should a team leave the game if will be marked as a forfeit loss for that map  and if done repeatedly may face disqualification from the tournament.

In the instance that the hosting team has the correct match settings and you leave the game before it is completed, the team that did not leave will receive the win for that map.

Disconnections

Player Disconnections

If a player disconnects during the initial launch of a map, the map will be restarted from scratch. The initial launch is defined as within the first thirty (30) seconds.

If a player disconnects after the game has started, the match is to be continued and is not to be ended at any point.

If both teams disagree over when the player disconnection took place, video proof must be provided that shows the scores and time at which the disconnection took place, as well as the players in the lobby.

Host Disconnection

If the host disconnects during the initial launch of a map, the map will be restarted from scratch. The initial launch is defined as within the first thirty (30) seconds.

Should the host disconnect (the host being the admin) at any point in time it is up to the admins to decide if the game will be restarted or else the win is given to a particular team.

Should the host disconnect (the host being one of the teams) after 30 seconds or after a kill has been made, the hosting team will forfeit that map.

If both teams disagree over when the host disconnection took place, video proof must be provided that shows the scores and time at which the disconnection took place, as well as the players in the lobby.

Match Interruptions

If random player(s) enter the room you must tell them to leave immediately. If the player(s) leave immediately without disrupting the match, the match should continue. If the player(s) disrupt the match, the match is to be ended and resumed from the score at which the player(s) entered and played for the time remaining when the match was ended.

If both teams disagree over when the interruption took place, video proof must be provided that shows the scores and time at which the interruption took place, as well as the players in the lobby.

Match Result

Both teams are responsible for reporting the result of a match. In the instance that only one team reports the match result, the result will automatically be confirmed after fifteen (15) minutes.

Disputed Result

In the instance that both teams report conflicting results, the match will be placed into dispute and will be handled by an admin.

Evidence

In the event of a dispute, both teams will be asked to provide evidence of their match victory. If neither team is able to provide evidence of their match victory, and admin will decide the outcome.

Cheating

We have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. Players caught cheating, glitching or abusing in-game mechanics in any way will be permanently banned from future tournaments hosted by gamers.com.mt.
