We’re ready to announce our first event for Battalion 1944 which is going to take place and it’s closer than you think! Just like last year, we’re teaming up with The Malta Robotics Olympiad and it’s going to be one event you don’t want to miss.
The main offline event will be taking place in the weekend from 20th April until 22nd April, but only after the weeks of online qualifiers build up to it. What do we mean? Well, starting from Monday 19th March, the group stages and part of the double elimination bracket will be hosted online before the main event. These online matches will be played on a weekly basis and streamed for all of Malta to watch. On the weekend, we’ll be starting online and transitioning to offline connection – with the last 8 teams playing live on the mainstage in front of a massive physical audience apart from the many who’ll be tuning on through the stream. All of this will take place at the MFCC.
The MRO Overwatch: Open 2017
Registration will open starting this Monday, 26th February and close on Thursday 15th March, plenty of time to form a team.
The event itself is quite similar to last year’s MRO, where we focused on Overwatch. With a plethora of sponsorship, it was an incredible opportunity to increase the local awareness levels regarding esports in Malta. The Malta Robotics Olympiad, the largest technology event on the island, always has an astounding amount of youth on offer, who especially enjoyed the event we held; and this year will be no different. Such coverage is always beneficial to the development of the local esports industry.
This is where Battalion 1944 and 2018 get their start, and we’ll be creating a tonne of content for all of you to enjoy.
