Top 10 Best-Selling PS4 Games Ever!

As the PS5 slowly creeps on the horizon, we may begin to appreciate the PS4 and it's incredible lifecycle jam-packed with incredible games. I can still recall the giddy feeling of booting it up and launching Destiny for the first time, as everything felt so futuristic near the dated PS3. Today we'll be digging into the history of the PS4 to figure out the top 10 best-selling games - note that this is as of 15th July and the list may change with time due to recent titles of Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us: Part II still racking up sales. Without further delay, here are the top 10!

#10 The Last of Us Part II

Currently sitting pretty at 4 million copies, the controversial title may have to thank pre-orders for this sale figure so early in its release. Regardless of the polarizing plot, this title released at the end of the lifecycle pushed the limits of the PS4 in terms of graphical fidelity and audio-visual experience and deserves to be here. 

Naughty Dog and other exclusives will be a common theme across this list. 

#9 Monster Hunter: World 

Honestly surprised to see this one here, probably due to its immense popularity over in the East compared to the West, as the title sold over 4,000,000 copies in Asia alone meaning that the rest of the world only offered up 670,000. The non-exclusive action role-playing seemed to hit the right chord here, offering up exciting hunting mechanics and terrifying monster. 

#8 Gran Turismo Sport 

Of course, a staple of every Playstation console, is the Gran Turismo title. Despite Sport not offering the usual Campaign mode beloved by fans, it offered the most incredible post-launch support as free updates and content still hit the title 3 years after the release - I would know as a fan of the series. 

The Sony-exclusive driving simulator sold over 8,000,000 copies and it's no wonder why, as the simulation is incomparable especially with VR. 

#7 Horizon Zero Dawn 

The exciting new exclusive IP from Sony was beloved by the community - enriched by mechanical dinosaurs and primitive humanity, the game offers a unique take on both story and gameplay mechanics together with a beautiful atmosphere. Selling over 10,000,000 copies, the title is also finding success as it extends to the PC gaming side of things. 

#6 The Last of Us Remastered

As the PS4 dawned, Naughty Dog took the opportunity to rework the classic title of The Last of Us. It wasn't just an update, however, as the remaster included unique features such as a Multiplayer mode which was well received by the community and merited over 10,000,000 copies. 

By far, the most successful remaster on the console. 

#5 God of War 

This one is no surprise, though I thought it would rank higher. Kratos' epic journey through Norse mythology parallels his previous expeditions although the gameplay is incredibly different. Santa Monica Studio outdid themselves here as the exclusive ran rampant across all of social media as one of the best games of the year. 

Once again, copies soared over 10,000,000. 

#4 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 

Released very early into the lifespan of the PS4, CD Project Red was quickly revered for their magnificent interpretation of the novels. The non-exclusive action role-playing game racked up over 10.8 million sold copies - receiving an extra boost in sales following the success found by the television series. 

#3 Marvel's Spider-Man 

The exclusive action-adventure title from Insomniac Games revived the beloved Spiderman series of games with a reboot of the series back in 2018. Selling over 13.2 million copies, I personally didn't realise its popularity until now and might consider buying it for myself as it sits on sale. 

#2 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End 

Thought this would be first? So did I. Nope, Naughty Dog's console-selling title, packing a superb adventure, amazing graphics and thrilling rides, is a staple of the Playstation 4. Rounding off the series of Uncharted titles, the game pushed the PS4 to its limits and made the most of its physical potential as a console as a must-have title in everyone's library. 

#1 Grand Theft Auto V 

Despite the sighs over the fact that GTA V will be arriving on PS5 instead of a new game, one must acknowledge the massive success of the title. The non-exclusive open-world crafted by Rockstar Games, released back on the PS3, garnered over 20,000,000 copies as it continues to fly off shelves. 

Apart from the strong core experience, GTA Online is also a massive part of the success due to the endless possibilities offered here for streamers too.
