Overwatch League Logo Potentially Attacked by MLB

With the Overwatch League just kicking off, it may soon have to wave a different flag following a potential legal battle regarding its logo. The challenging company is none other than MLB; Major League Baseball.

The claim is extremely respectable and recognized. If one takes a minute to compare the Overwatch League logo with that of MLB, a nod of the head is expected. Here are all the similarities we could identify. Both logos include a central white silhouette in action, a swinger going for the ball and Tracer with guns up; they are also facing the same direction. Then there are the two contrasting shades of colour in the background which are separated by the mentioned. MLG sport a red and blue profile and OW uses black and yellow. To finalise, both logos find the worded brand underneath the picture in full capitilisation.  If you see anything else, add a comment so everyone may see it too.

MLB couldn’t have spoken up any sooner, having only one day left to contest. This is because for each creation of a trademark there is a rewarded 30 days for other brands to challenge or complain any similarities. Initial looks granted MLB 90 more days to investigate further and prepare a case. It’s very possible that the Overwatch League concedes this defeat and MLB continue to defend its iconic logo.
