Nintendo Switch Online Membership

For the past few years, online content for major consoles could only be accessed through regular payments and subscriptions. This is the burden of console-gamers, while PC gaming enthusiasts are free from this enthrallment. The Nintendo Switch, being the new kid round the block compared to the PS4 and Xbox, has also revealed details regarding payment plans for online membership.

Nintendo Switch owners couldn’t be more content. Online play will stay free for now, with the subscription scheme to be installed in 2018, giving owners some breathing space. Though, when the time does comes for purchase, Switch gamers will surely not hesitate due to the extremely respectable pricing. For comparison, €20 for PS4 will give you 3 months of online gameplay, with the Nintendo plan rewarding a whole year for the same price. Thus, one month will cost €4 and three months will cost €8.

A keen reader would probably suggest that Playstation Plus and Xbox Live Gold give the user monthly games, which explains the price. Yet, Nintendo makes no compromise, and allows paying subscribers to access an array of classic Nintendo games for no extra fees. A spokesperson for Nintendo has shared the details;

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will have ongoing access to a library of classic games with added online play. Users can play as many of the games as they want, as often as they like, as long as they have an active subscription.

This is mind-blowing stuff from Nintendo, if they can execute these plans, and is a definite winner compared to the likes of Xbox and Playstation. Hopefully, they’re taking down notes. Nevertheless, the argument will always remain, that online console-gaming should be completely free, just like the good old-days.
