Ninjas in Pyjamas lose Friberg
Wednesday 14th June 2017, 04:39 | written by: Andre MizziFriberg is finally a free agent after nearly five long years of loyalty to Ninjas in Pyjamas. This recent change has ripped the organisation as having Counter-Strike’s most historic team. Such a switch-up has been expected and is understandable with recent lacking results and attendance at major tournaments. So, like clockwork, Friberg was replaced by Epsilon player ‘REZ’.
Following such a drastic replacement, what may we expect from Ninjas in Pyjamas. Will ‘REZ’ bring greatness or desolation. A team which has been playing together, at the core, for a lengthy period of time will always struggle initially with swaps. The question is, how long will it take for NiP to adapt? The remaining tight connection is between three of the players, being ‘f0rest’, ‘GeT_RiGht’ and ‘Xizt’. ‘Draken’ and ‘REZ’ do have experience with one another which will help, but Ninjas in Pyjamas need to become one team again to show that this change was for the better.
History will always remember what Friberg has done for NiP, claiming 30+ championship titles across titles, with an ESL victory and plenty of second place finishes. It is respectable to deem such a player as a Counter-Strike legend. Hopefully, his departure will instil a new life in NiP and the organisation will no longer be the laughing-stock of CS:GO with the ridiculous fifth man swapping.
An ambiguous future awaits NiP in the months to come.
