Last month’s record-breaking number of CS:GO game bans
Tuesday 8th August 2017, 11:55 | written by: Gabriel SciberrasJuly 2017, last month, saw the largest recorded amount of bans in a single month for Counter-Strike:Global Offensive. All the statistics were taken from the Steam Database. The exact number is 135,519, one hell of a number.
Obviously, the in-game report and Overwatch case systems were burning on all cylinders. If you were thinking, Overwatch in this case isn’t referring to the Blizzard game. It’s a crucial judicial system which gives the community power to decide whether to convict a user guilty of a cheating accusation through demo reviews. Reporting may be done by right-clicking the user’s nametag on the scoreboard; then Overwatch will check for any griefing, aim hacking, wall hacking, scripting and all the other types of hacking which tend to ruin gameplay. On the other hand, abusive chat is much less serious and is therefore handled by Valve itself.
To avoid confusion, VAC, or Valve Anti-Cheat bans are different. These are carried out through software and hold a record of 176,120 in June 2016. The record which this article is referring to is that of game-bans set by Overwatch this past month.
