Halo Infinite - What We Know So Far!

As one of the staple exclusive titles for the upcoming Xbox Series X in its fight against the PS5, expectations sit very high for the next iteration of the series - Halo Infinite. Previewed in the showcase by Xbox on the 23rd July, the following is everything you need to know about the upcoming title.

Developed by 343 Industries, the game looks to reunite the playerbase which has formed the backbone of the series. Aimed to perform at 60fps, within the campaign at least, it also looks to make the most of the next-gen hardware surrounding it.

In the gameplay reveal, 343's "biggest and most ambitious Halo game ever created" allowed everyone to take a look at some world premiere campaign footage. The 8 minute demo is available below:

Formed an opinion yet? The internet is one step ahead of you. Master Chief is back and ready to take on a new action-packed adventure after surviving a plane crash. Armed to the teeth with an arsenal of weapons, the gameplay definitely looks great as he takes out the legions of The Banished. Though, this isn't just a remaster - new features come in the form of new in-game mechanics such as an exciting grapple hook similar to that seen in Doom Eternal

Other features include a split-screen co-op which I can definitely appreciate and so will the community following the lack of the feature in Halo 5. What has surprised the community is the mention of the term 'open world' and 'day/night' cycles.

This is where everybody is still trying to wrap their heads around Halo Infinite. How can Halo be an open world? Here's what Chris Lee from 343 Industry has to say about the change:

I would think about it more like kind of delivering on that promise we've had from the past.

There's a lot of open gameplay in those previous games, but they're always in these linear levels. This time players will have the freedom to explore the ring. But we are telling a story with a beginning, middle, and end that we want to carry the player through as you go.

Is 343 simply going for the 'open-world craze' which has ruined a plethora of good franchises? Should fans be concerned? Accordingly, no, there isn't anything to worry about.

Available on Microsoft consoles and PC in Holiday 2020, while some are concerned over the graphics, others are worried about the open world.

My worry is the term "biggest and most ambitious" - the exact same words which games such as Anthem, Fallout 76 and No Man's Sky used to describe their failed releases as large games void of content at launch.
